2016 Calendar of Events (1)

Since deciding on my challenge for the year I have been reviewing events to test me whilst at the same time give me reasons for long weekends away, after all whilst raising money for charity I might as well enjoy myself at the same time.

I am going to update my event list as I book more but for the time being these are the events I have already entered.

January 31st – Hyde Park 10km – Royal Parks Series

Although this event is part of a series I have chosen to do just this one due to other commitments. It’s a gentle run around one of London’s great parks.

February 28th – Brighton Half Marathon – Vitality Brighton Half

A flat course, where according to my friends, that is ideal for setting a PB – so thats my second challenge.

** Cancelled Due to Illness – March 13th – Falmouth Half Marathon – Falmouth half details

The race is both hilly and scenic, starting and finishing at The Moor in Falmouth. After heading out to Gyllngvase Beach, runners are directed towards Swanpool and Maenporth beaches before going inland to Mawnan Smith and Buddock Water before turning back through Penryn and along the coast again back into Falmouth.

** Cancelled Due to Illness – April 3rd – Reading Half Marathon – Vitality Reading Half

The course this year is the same as 2015 and is apparently another fast course, so another chance for a PB.

May 15th – Reading 10km – Green Park Royal Berkshire 10km

Having run this last year in 54 minutes I want to see if all this exercise since then has made me quicker over the same course.

June, July and August – I am at this time Un-Decided – Your suggestions would be welcome.

September 11th – Run to the Beat 10km – Sure Run to the Beat

Music all the way on this run. Incredible sets from some of the world’s best DJs. Awesome 10K running route around Wembley Park.

October 16th – Wolfgangsee Half Marathon – Austria – 5km, 10km, Half and Full Marathons

Whilst this is not an English web site the general idea can be gleaned from the link below.

This looks like a fantastic challenge in a beautiful setting, on top of that we have friends who own and run accommodation and eating establishments in and around this village.

You don’t need to do the half marathon as they offer other distances, but I decided why travel all that way and not go the distance (except that I don’t fancy the full marathon!).

November and December – again I am still unsure what events to enter so please give me some ideas.

As I have mentioned before I would love to have friends, or family, or colleagues join me on some or all of these, and also become part of my fund raising team to help the charity.

Remember to follow this site for regular updates and news about the runs, the charity and the fund raising.

  1. Aw, this was a very good post. Taking the time and
actual effort to produce a very good article… but what can I say…
I hesitate a whole lot and never seem to get nearly anything done.
